The meaning of 고 해서 is almost the same as 아/어서, but more detailed than 아/어서.
When to use 아/어서:
One reason only (for example, hungry) + 아/어 서
Sentence: 배가 고파서 라면을 먹었어요. I ate ramen because I was hungry.
When to use V + 고 해서:
The most important reason out of many reasons why I ate ramen + 고 해서
Reason 1) 라면을 좋아해요. I like ramen.
Reason 2) 라면 값이 싸요. Ramen is cheap. (most important reason)
Reason 3) 배가 고파요. I am hungy.
Reason 4) 라면이 맛있어요. Ramen tastes good.
Reason 5) ...
Sentence: 라면 값도 싸고 해서 라면을 먹었어요. I ate ramen because ramen is cheap.
Like 아/어서, when 고 해서 is used, sentence must end with ~습니다 (~요), ~습니까? (~요?) ending form.
Like (으)니까 when 고 하니까 is used, sentence must end with ~ㅂ시다, ~(으)세요 ending form.
